After over 25 years of training in Songahm Taekwondo, Jordan Schreiber recently was inducted as a Songahm Taekwondo Master. The final training for mastership began when he earned the rank of sixth degree black belt in June 2007. During the year that followed, with the help of his students and the commitment of Team PRIDE instructors nationwide, he reached a goal set for him by the Masters' Council: To extend the benefits of Songahm Taekwondo training to as many people as possible by enrolling 200 new members (including members served through Team PRIDE, as well as students at his Martinez, CA, dojahng).
To thank his students for joining him in this endeavor, Master Schreiber established a Referral Rewards Program. Students who refer new members can earn unlimited gift certificates good for $50 in martial arts equipment.
Mastership is a great honor and a great responsibility. The year that preceded the mastership ceremony required Master Schreiber to follow a strict physical, intellectual and spiritual training regimen. (See this ATA World magazine article for more details on the mastership training process.
In February 2008, he joined the other Master Nominees in Nevada for workouts with the Masters' Council and a hike up Turtlehead Peak Mountain. In June, 2008, Master Schreiber adn the other master candidates fasted for nine days while continuing to train with the Masters' Council.
The mastership ceremony took place on June 27, 2008 during the Opening Ceremonies for the Songahm Taekwondo World Championships in Little Rock, AR.
