Master Schreiber

Master Jordan Schreiber
Chief Instructor
6th Degree Black Belt

Master Jordan Schreiber, the chief instructor for Master Schreiber's ATA Martial Arts, is a sixth-degree black belt with nearly 30 years of martial arts experience and 25 years of experience teaching Taekwondo. He is an internationally-certified Songahm Taekwondo instructor. He began training at age 9 in Taos, New Mexico, under Chief Master Dan Thor. On June 27, 2008, during a traditional ceremony that followed a year of intensive preparation, he became a Master.

Master Schreiber is the President and founder of Team PRIDE, an organization dedicated to preventing juvenile delinquency and promoting education by extending the benefits of martial arts instruction to low-income at-risk children nationwide. Master Schreiber has run Taekwondo schools and clubs in Massachusetts, Connecticut and England. He has a B.A. from Harvard College, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a Ph.D in educational politics from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He also holds a Massachusetts teaching license. He has been featured in Taekwondo World Magazine, The Way Magazine, ATA World Magazine (in 2007 and again in 2008), and the San Francisco Chronicle. In 2007, he was named "Best Citizen in the East Bay" by the East Bay Express. In 2008, his approach to instruction was highlighted by the George Lucas Educational Foundation as an example of what works in education. And in 2011 he and some of his students were featured on the ATA's Leadership NOW website.


Dr. Sarah Perry
5th Degree Black Belt

Sarah PerryDr. Sarah Perry is a fifth-degree black belt and Certified Instructor with 17 years of Taekwondo experience. She began training at age 9 and achieved the rank of first-degree black belt in Olympic-style Taekwondo. While studying at the University of Arizona Dr. Perry joined the ATA at the rank of first-degree recommended black belt and has been training in the ATA ever since.

Dr. Perry has worked over the years to develop and refine Taekwondo curricula for students either without the use of their arms, or students in wheelchairs. One of Dr. Perry's former students, Ms. Jessica Cox, who was born without arms was featured in 2010 first at the Opening Ceremonies for World Championships, and later in the ATA Magazine. "In teaching you learn that every student is special, and you have to adapt your teaching style to each of them. To me, Special Abilities students are just another kind of student." She currently teaches Black Belt and Leadership classes as well as the Tournament Training class.

Dr. Perry was the Chief Instructor and manager for the ATA club at the University of Arizona where she was honored as the 2003-2004 University of Arizona Student Recreation Coach of the Year. She also worked as an Assistant Instructor at Newberry's Black Belt Academy in Champaign, IL where she was honored as the Region 102W Certified Instructor of the Year. She has B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She currently works as a postdoctoral researcher in the Bioengineering Department at the University of California at Berkeley. In 2002 she won the title of World Champion in sparring and has numerous State Champion titles from Arizona, Illinois, and now California.


Joshua Boyes
3rd Degree Black Belt

Joshua BoyesJoshua Boyes is a third-degree black belt and a Certified Instructor in Songahm Taekwondo. He has been training for over ten years and teaching for five. Mr. Boyes teaches Tiny Tiger classes and our MMA class. He studied Personal Training and Sports Psychology in college and is certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.


Michael Miller
3rd Degree Black Belt

Michael MillerMichael Miller is a third-degree black belt and a Level 2 Trainer in the ATA's Instructor Training Program. He teaches classes for teens and adults and coaches our Demo Team and Tournament Team.


Tyler Wright
2nd Degree Black Belt

Tyler Wright has been an ATA member for four years. He is a second-degree black belt and a Level 1 Trainer in the ATA's Instructor Training Program. He teaches Karate for Kids classes and Tiny Tigers classes. Mr. Wright graduated from Alhambra High School in 2009 and is certified in First Aid and CPR.


John Wright
2nd Degree Black Belt

John Wright started training at Master Schreiber's ATA Martial Arts in 2007 and began teaching in 2008. "I took the family class, initially, as a way to have fun with my son," he says. "I knew right away, though, that it was going to be so much more. There are so many benefits to Taekwondo, and I love that I am able to pass that on." He is a Level 2 Trainer in the ATA's Instructor Training Program and teaches Tiny Tigers and Karate for Kids classes.

Mr. Wright was a youth pastor for eight years, and has been the lead pastor at his church for five years. "The life skills we teach in Taekwondo are very similar to what I have been teaching teens and adults for almost fifteen years. We talk about the character of a person almost as much as we do about the proper technique of a kick or punch."
